Abstract

Selective population with both C3(Li6, d) and C13(Li7, t) is observed for a peak at 13.58±0.02 MeV in O17. The peak corresponds to a broad state or states whose combined (Li6, d) angular distribution is similar to the C12(Li6, d)O16 (6+, 16.29 MeV) distribution. Based on the relative populations of states with the C12(Li7, t) and C13(Li7, t) reactions, the shapes of the C12(Li6, d) and C13(Li6, d) angular distributions and the fact that a peak is not observed in N15(α, d) at this energy, the peak is suggested to contain a state or states of spins 112, 132, or both, with a weak coupling configuration of O16(6+, 16.29)p12. Strongly excited peaks are also observed at 14.86, 18.17, and 19.24 MeV in O17.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS C13(Li6, d), (Li7, t), E=34, 36 MeV, measured σ(E, θ) and compared results with C12(Li6, d), (Li7, t). Suggested spin of 112 or 132 or both for the peak at 13.58±0.02 MeV in O17.
