Heavy-Ion Inelastic Scattering to Giant Resonances

Abstract

Inelastic C12 and N14 scattering experiments have been performed on Zr90 and Pb208 at EC12=120 MeV, and on Ca40, Zr90, Au197, Pb208, and Bi209 at EN14=161 MeV. Giant resonances are observed in all spectra. An angular distribution has been measured on a Pb208 target, for which distorted-wave Born-approximation analysis is presented.
