Abstract

Elastic scattering of Li7 + Be9 and Li6 + B10 has been measured at E(Li7)=34 MeV and E(Li6)=30 MeV and the data have been described with the standard optical model. Both Be9(Li7,He6) and Be9(Li7,Li6) reaction data were measured. Extreme forward angle (Li7,He6) data were taken so that the j transfer (32 or ½) to the first two 1+ states in B10 could be determined. Both states were found to be populated predominantly by p12 transfers. The absolute spectroscopic factors obtained are in good agreement with 35 MeV (He3, d) data, but not with 17 MeV data. Comparison between the spectroscopic factors obtained from the (d, n), (He3, d), and (Li7,He6) reactions shows a clear need for the energy dependence of these reactions to be understood before reliable absolute spectroscopic factors for B10 can be obtained. The (Li7,Li6) results were in good agreement with the calculations of Cohen and Kurath, in contrast to the (Li7,He6) results.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Li7 + Be9, 34 MeV; Li6 + B10, 30 MeV; measured σ(θ); deduced optical model parameters. Be9(Li7, He6)B10, 34 MeV; measured σ(θ); deduced j transfer; Be9(Li7, Li6)Be10, 34 MeV; measured σ(θ). Deduced S(B10) and S(Be10) from finite-range DWBA analysis.
