Abstract

N19 nuclei from the O18(O18, N19)F17 reaction at 91 MeV have been observed. The mass excess of N19 is measured as 15.81 ± 0.09 MeV, a value located in between the conflicting predictions of the Garvey-Kelson formula and the modified shell-model mass equation.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS O18(O18, N19)F17; θ=10°; E(O18)=91 MeV; enriched target; measured Q, deduced mass excess of N19.
