Abstract

The angular distributions of deuterons for 7θc.m.60 have been measured for 56.3 MeV neutrons incident on targets of Li6 and Li7. Transitions corresponding to the pickup of 1p-shell and 1s-shell protons are strong with the latter exhibiting structure indicative of groups of excited states in He5 and He6. In He5 these have excitation energies of 16.7, 18.5, and 20.5 MeV, and in He6 an average excitation energy of 15.6 MeV. The spectroscopic factors deduced from the measurements are in good agreement with theoretical values where the latter are available.
