Abstract

The Q values for the (He3, Li8) reaction on S32 and Ar36 have been measured. The resulting masses for the new nuclei P27 and Cl31 are compared with the predictions of various models. The lowest T=32 state in Si27 was also observed in the Si29(p, t)Si27 reaction, and its excitation energy and mass excess were determined.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS S32, Ar36(He3, Li8) measured Q. Deduced mass P27, Cl31. Si29(p, t) measured Q lowest, T=32 level.
