Abstract

The Amado model of three-body reactions is applied to investigate the D-phase anomalies observed in the pH3 scattering experiment for proton energies below 12 MeV. A perturbation calculation using s-wave separable potentials and including the spin-isospin dependence of the interacting particles demonstrates that the coupling of the p+H3 channel to the d+d and other breakup channels is important only in the singlet D state. The calculated inelasticity parameter η202 is found to be in good agreement with experiment.
