Abstract

Self-consistent Brueckner-Hartree-Fock calculation are made for 16O, using the Hamada-Johnston potential. The energy E of the system is expressed as a functional of density. The particle-hole interaction is constructed, using the Landau theory, taking the second derivative of the energy with respect to the density. This interaction is then used for the RPA calculations of the 1, 2+ and 3 giant states of 16O.
