Abstract

Yields for the B11(γ,π) reaction have been measured between its threshold at 142.0 MeV and 169 MeV by observing the residual C11 activity. The reaction was initiated by thin-radiator bremsstrahlung. Measurements were made in 1 MeV steps up to 150 MeV, and in larger steps above this. The present results are consistent with previous data for this reaction obtained at higher energies. The cross section values near threshold deduced from the data are compared to recent preliminary theoretical values.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS B11(γ,π); bremsstrahlung end-point energies to 169 MeV; measured yields by residual activity; deduced σ(Eγ) for Eγ=Eth (142.0 MeV)-169 MeV.
