Abstract

The decay schemes of Cs129 and I133 have been studied in order to extend the detailed level properties of odd-mass Xe. For Cs129, decay levels in Xe129 are identified at (Jπ values in parentheses) ground state ((12+)), 39.57 (32+), 236.14 (112), (32+), 321.70 (52+), 411.49 (12+), 572.67 (52+), 588.55 (32+), 624.32 (72+), 904.31 (12+), and 946.03 keV ((32+)); for I133, decay levels in Xe133 are identified at ground state ((32+)), 233.22 (112), 262.70 (12+), 529.87 (52+), 680.24 (32+), 743.75 (92,72), 875.32 (72+), 911.46 (32+), 1052.29 (52+), 1236.44 (72+), 1298.22 (52+), 1350.32 (52+), 1386.15 (72+), and 1589.92 keV ((72+,52+)). Gas chromatography techniques were used to determine a branching ratio of (2.88 ± 0.02)% of all I133 decays populating the Xe133112 isomer. These levels and their properties are compared with other odd-mass Xe nuclei and their level properties.

RADIOACTIVITY Cs129 (mass separated) I133 (chemically isolated from fission) measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ coin; deduced logft. Xe129 and Xe133 deduced levels, J, π.
