The odd-$A$ Y isotopes ${}_{}{}^{85}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Y}$ and ${}_{}{}^{87}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Y}$ are studied in a semimicroscopic model which couples the proton quasiparticle motion to the quadrupole vibrations of the neighboring even core. The calculated results are in good agreement with recent (${}_{}{}^3{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{He},d$) data.
