Abstract

A He2 detection system has been developed and used to investigate the (α,He2) reaction at 65 MeV on C12, C13, and O16 targets. Extreme spectroscopic selectivity with preferential population of final states with (d52)4+2 character was observed. Applications of this experimental technique to the detection of other unbound reaction products are proposed.
