The necessity of including two-step processes in the multiple scattering treatment of ${}_{}{}^{13}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}({\pi }^{+},{\pi }^0){}_{}{}^{13}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{N}$ in the (3, 3) resonance region is stressed.
