Abstract

The confusing situation near Ec.m.=18.5 MeV in C12 + C12 can be understood as arising from the presence of overlapping 10+ and 12+ resonances, both of which are exhibited in C12(C12,α)Ne20(g.s.). The presence of both in C12(C12, Be8)O16(g.s.) has been previously reported by Fletcher et al.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS C12(C12,α), E=36.637.5 MeV; measured σ(E,θ). Legendre polynomial fits.
