Abstract

To obtain the large quadrupole moment recently reported for the 21+ level of O18 a dominant (sd)4p2 configuration is needed. This is inconsistent with the magnetic moment of the 21+ level which indicates a dominant (sd)2 configuration in agreement with model predictions.
