Backscattering of $α$ particles by light nuclei

Abstract

A heavy particle transfer mechanism is used here to interpret the anomalous backscattering of $α$ particles by light nuclei.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ${}^{16, 17}O (α, α)$ , ${}^{15}N (α, α)$ ; shell effects on the backward cross section.
