Abstract

The spin-orbit potentials between heavy-ion projectiles and 12C target are calculated by the folding method. The projectile mass number dependence of the spin-orbit potential is presented. The contributions of the spin-orbit potential to the elastic and inelastic scatterings of the 6Li and 14N projectiles from the 12C target are calculated. The theoretical elastic polarization of the 6Li scattered from 12C is found to be appreciable.
