Abstract

The reaction 58Ni(16O, 12C) has been studied at three incident energies, 60, 72 and 81 MeV, for a wide range of scattering angles. The angular and energy dependence of the optimum Q-value has been determined from the data. A simple optimum Q-value model which combines the recoil model of Siemens et al. with a concept of nuclear friction is proposed.
