(π, πN) puzzle: Effects of pion charge exchange

Abstract

The ratio of cross sections for nucleon knockout by pions, e.g. σ[C12(π, πN)C11]σ(C12(π+, πN)C11], is shown to be insensitive to pion charge exchange either before or after the knockout collision.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS C12(π±, πN), Tπ=50300 MeV; ratio of σ(Tπ)'s; pion charge exchange effects.
