Abstract

The reduction of the dynamical equations of the Lane-Robson reaction formalism, reported previously, is extended to the important case in which the nuclear Hamiltonian contains absorptive and linearly energy dependent terms. The method is illustrated by an R-matrix analysis of two potential models fitted to O16 + O16 elastic scattering data in the energy region 10 MeV<Ec.m.<35 MeV. The R-matrix method provides an economical representation of the model solutions and yields further insight into the nature of the resonance structure predicted by these models.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS O16(O16, O16), Ec.m.=1035 MeV; calculated R-matrix parameters for optical potential models; deduced Γ, σ(E).
