Abstract

We report results of calculations of the parity-mixing observables in the capture of thermal neutrons by protons. The calculations are exact and employ the Reid soft-core potential and the conventional Cabibbo model potential to describe the strong and weak nucleon-nucleon interactions, respectively. The calculated photon circular polarization is -2×108 which is two orders of magnitude less than the experimental value, but of the same sign.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS H1(n, γ); thermal neutrons, calculated circular polarization of γ, Reid soft-core potential, conventional Cabibbo parity violating potential.
