Abstract

The E0 branching ratio ΓπΓ of the S32 (3.78-MeV, 0+) state to the ground state was measured to be (3.54 ± 0.62) × 104. When combined with the lifetime τm=(0.90±0.15) psec of this state one obtains the value Mπ=(2.22±0.27) fm2 for the E0 matrix element.

NUCLEAR REACTION P31(He3, d), E=8.5 MeV; S32 measured E0 branching ratio. Deduced E0 matrix element.
