Abstract

Angular distributions for the Be9(Li6, Li7)Be8 neutron-transfer reaction to form the lowest two states in Li7 have been measured for laboratory energies of 5.5 and 6.5 MeV. Elastic scattering cross sections for Li6 on Be9 were measured at laboratory energies of 4.0 and 6.0 MeV in order to determine optical potentials for the theoretical analysis of the transfer cross section. Distorted-wave-Born-approximation calculations were found to be in reasonable agreement with the data while Hauser-Feshbach calculations were not. This indicates that the reaction is primarily a direct process.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Be9(Li6, Li7), E=5.5,6.5 MeV; measured σ(θ) Li7 states at 0.0, 0.48 MeV; DWBA analysis. Be9(Li6, Li6), E=4,6 MeV; measured σ(θ; deduced optical-model parameters.
