Abstract

This work evaluates the theory of Coulomb displacement energies of the ground states of 18Ne18O and 42Ti42Ca, with a view to making bounds on the possible violation of charge symmetry in the strong interaction. The theoretical uncertainties are found to be of ∼8%, and the discrepancies between theory and experiment are much larger than the possible charge-violating potential being sought.
