Abstract

The cross section for the reaction He4(γ, pnd) is calculated via the quasideuteron mechanism, assuming a He4 Gaussian ground state fitted to the form factor. From the (γ, pnd) amplitude the contribution to the reactions He4(γ, p)H3, He4(γ, n)He3 due to nd (pd) rescattering to form H3 (He3) are calculated. This contribution dominates the high-energy photonucleon cross section. An asymmetry coefficient β=1.51 at Eγ=120 MeV is obtained, close to the observed values.
