Abstract

Unperturbed and perturbed angular correlation and conversion electron measurements have been performed to obtain spectroscopic information on the low-lying levels of Xe129 fed by the decay of Cs129. We established Iπ(318keV)=32+, Iπ(411keV)=12+, Iπ(589keV)=32+, δ(39.6keV)=(2.6±0.5)×102, δ(177keV)=0.44±013, δ(372keV)=+0.97±0.09, μ(39.6keV)=+(0.88±0.26)μN. B(M1) and B(E2) values are derived from above data and earlier lifetime determinations. A weak-coupling calculation is presented to explain experimental data.

RADIOACTIVITY Cs129 [from I(α,2n)]; measured ceKL, γγ(θ), deduced I, δ, B(E2), B(M1). Measured γγ(θ,H), Xe129 level deduced g. Ge(Li), Si(Li) detectors. Isotopically separated source.
