Abstract

Binding energies and single particle spectra for the spherical nuclei helium, oxygen and calcium are calculated in the Hartree-Fock approximation. Higher order corrections are also estimated and are of considerable significance. The interaction matrix elements used are those derived earlier from the two-nucleon phase shifts by Elliott et al. and a modified set which give better saturation properties.
