Abstract

The (π, nγ) reaction has been investigated within the direct reactions formalism employing the CGLN interaction and realistic nuclear and distorted neutron wavefunctions. Our results for 14N can account for the quasifree background observed in radiative capture of stopped pions, but they predict gross structure. Comparisons with the phenomenological pole model are made.
