Abstract
The calculated energy spectra, quadrupole moments, and quadrupole transitions for nuclei in shell are reported. The framework of the generator coordinate method using angular momentum projected states from Hartree-Fock intrinsic states driven by an external quadrupole field is successfully employed. The agreement with experimental numbers is found to be quite satisfactory up to the middle of the shell. The excited levels and the electrical moments are satisfactorily explained.
