Abstract

No evidence is found in the C12(C12,α)Ne20 reaction for a 6+ member of a "superband" predicted by Vogt to lie in the range Ex=1011 MeV. We suggest the 6+ state at 12.14 MeV as the 6+ member of the core-excited band built on the 7.20-MeV 0+ state.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS C12(C12,α)Ne20, E=3037 MeV. Measured σ[E(C12),Eα]. θlab=3.75°.
