Abstract

The B8 yield from the Be9(p,2n)B8 reaction has been measured in the range of incident proton energies Ep=22.0 to Ep=47.5 MeV. The current of 47.5 MeV protons necessary to produce a flux of 0.74 × 106 B8 neutrinos per cm2 sec (1 solar neutrino unit) at a distance of 8 m from a thick target is found to be 43 ± 5 mA.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS, RADIOACTIVITY Be9(p,2n)B8, C12(p,αn)B8, E=22.047.5 MeV; measured σBe9(p,2n), upper limit σC12(p,αn); deduced proton current produce 1 SNU B8 neutrinos.
