Abstract
Differential cross sections for elastic and inelastic scattering of 12.0-MeV protons from and have been measured. Optical-model parameters obtained from the elastic cross sections were used in distorted-wave-Born-approximation and coupled-channel calculations in order to determine the spin, parities, and deformation parameters of excited states. The deformation parameters found are for the first states in and , respectively, and are , respectively, for the first states. Most of the scattering strength to the "two-phonon" states proceed through their one-phonon components. The spins of several higher excited states are suggested.
