Abstract

The nuclear gyromagnetic ratio of the 6728-keV Iπ=3 level in C14 has been determined by observation of the time-dependent intensity modulations caused by static, isotropic hyperfine fields occurring in hydrogen-like C14 ions recoiling in vacuum. A value |g|=0.272±0.007 is obtained.
