Abstract

The decay properties of high-spin states of 53Cr have been investigated by means of the 50Ti(α, n)53Cr(γ) reaction at Eα = 10.2–14.2 MeV. From measurements of the yields, angular distributions and linear polarizations of γ-ray transitions the following states have been assigned: 1006 keV 52, 1290 keV 72, 1536 keV 72 (all confirmed), 2173 keV 112, 2233 keV 92(−), 2827 keV 112(−), 3084 keV 152 and 3593 keV 132(−). Multipole mixing ratios are transitions. Coexistence of the spherical and the deformed states in 53Cr is suggested.
