Microscopic description of nuclear π + production in 12C

Abstract

The cross section for the process (p, π+) is calculated in the framework of the Jastrow model. It is shown that in contrast to the pure independent particle model the experimental data for 12C at Ep = 185 MeV can be reproduced quantitatively.
