Abstract

Vector-analyzing-power angular distributions for deuteron elastic scattering and l=0 pickup reactions on the same target are compared for S32(d, d)S32 with S32(d, He3)P31, Si30(d, d)Si30 with Si30(d, t)Si29, and N14(d, d)N14 with N14(d, t)N13 at a deuteron lab energy of 15 MeV. The strong similarities between the two angular distributions for each target suggest that an alternative to the distorted-wave Born-approximation description of these direct transfer reactions may be appropriate.
