Abstract

The width of the first excited state of N13 has been determined from the C12(d, n)N*13 reaction to be Γ=36.15±0.54 keV. This result is compared with those of previous determinations from C12(p, γ)N13 and C12(p, p)C12 experiments. These previous measurements are reviewed and it is shown that they imply a width of Γ=32.5±0.55 keV. This discrepancy is discussed and some possible sources of the differences are examined.
