Nuclear spectroscopy of 50Cr

Abstract

The nuclear excited states of ⁵⁰Cr were studied by means of the decay of 1.7 min ⁵⁰Mn, the ⁵⁰Cr(p, p' γ) and ⁵²Cr(p, t) reactions and Coulomb excitation with ³⁵Cl ions. Gamma-ray branching ratios and precise level energies were obtained for 23 excited states in ⁵⁰Cr. The L-values from the (p, t) reaction are employed to suggest or confirm the spin and parity assignments for eight excited states. The mean lifetime of the 783.3 keV 2⁺ state was determined as 12.1 ± 1.2ps from the measured B(E2)↑ value and as 10 ± 2ps from Doppler-shift measurements. The experimental level scheme for ⁵⁰Cr is compared with that for the cross-conjugate nucleus ⁴⁶Ti and with a calculated level scheme.

An update of the B(E2) evaluation for 0<inf>1</inf>+→2<inf>1</inf>+ transitions in even-even nuclei near N~Z~28
2012, Atomic Data and Nuclear Data Tables
An update of the B(E2) $↑$ evaluation for even–even Cr, Fe, Ni, and Zn nuclei is presented. It is a continuation of work by Raman et al. on B(E2) $↑$ values and was motivated by a large number of new measurements. It extends the previous evaluation from 20 to 38 nuclei and includes a comprehensive shell-model analysis. Evaluation policies for the analysis of experimental data are discussed. Future plans for a complete B(E2) $↑$ evaluation of even–even nuclei are outlined.

2011, Nuclear Data Sheets
The experimental nuclear spectroscopic data for known nuclides of mass number 50 (Cl,Ar,K,Ca,Sc,Ti,V, Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni) have been evaluated and presented together with Adopted properties for levels and γ rays. This evaluation has been carried out about 15 years after the previous one by Thomas Burrows (1995Bu29). Except for ⁵⁰Sc and ⁵⁰V, extensive new data have become available for all the other nuclides in the intervening years. The data for ⁵⁰Sc and ⁵⁰V have also been checked again in detail and several changes made. No data are yet available for excited states in ⁵⁰Cl, ⁵⁰Ar and ⁵⁰Ni. This work supersedes earlier evaluations (1995Bu29, 1990Bu18, 1984Al29, 1976Au07) of A=50 nuclides.

Experimental nuclear structure and decay data for nuclides of mass A=50 have been compiled and evaluated. This work supersedes the previous evaluation by R.L. Auble (76Au07) published in Nuclear Data Sheets 19, 291 (1976). Where no new data have appeared the previous results in 76Au07 were used, although those data were reviewed for additional descriptive information on experimental techniques and analysis, with corrections if needed.
Nuclear γ-rays produced by 200 MeV (π+, π0) charge exchange on Cr and Ni
1978, Nuclear Physics, Section A
Spectra of deexcitation γ-rays from 200 MeV π⁺ on natural Cr and Ni targets were searched for indications of transitions in ⁵²Mn and ^{58, 60}Cu, respectively, produced by (π⁺, π⁰) charge exchange. Observed were weak transitions from the ⁵²Mn 2923 keV IAS, ⁵²Mn 870 keV state, ⁵⁸Cu 203 keV IAS, and a tentative transition from the ⁵⁸Cu 1428 keV state with cross sections of 3.7 ±1, 3.4±2, 3.1 ±3 and 3.4±3 mb, respectively. The peak at 870 keV may have arisen from a transition in ⁴⁵Sc rather than ⁵²Mn.

Nuclear structure data available through May 1976 are compiled, and adopted level properties are given. The bulk of the data are presented pictorially for easy comparison. Experimental details, references, and additional comments, where required, are given in the text. All drawings, tables, and comments are reproduced from the computerized Evaluated Nuclear Structure Data File (ENSDF). Any additions or corrections desired by the users should be addressed to the compilers for maintenance and updating of the computer file.
