Abstract

It is shown how to generate a family of density- and momentum-dependent δ-function effective interactions, with members differing only in their nuclear-matter incompressibilities, by demanding a fit to the saturation and symmetry properties of nuclear matter, and to the surface properties of semi-infinite nuclear matter. Useful interactions are isolated, and two of them are used in model calculations with 16O and 40Ca, and compared with similar interactions, developed by Moszkowski and by Vautherin and Brink. The limitations of this type of interaction are discussed.
