Abstract

A real non-local potential is developed which describes single-particle properties of nuclei as a function of A and Z. It is useful as a first approximation for nuclear physics applications requiring simple computation of sets of single-particle wave functions. The fits to single-particle energy levels of spherical nuclei and charge distributions are comparable in quality with those obtained by recent Hartree-Pock calculations. Neutron density distributions parallel closely those of the Hartree-Fock calculation.
