Abstract

The giant E1 resonances of C12 have been studied with the polarized-proton capture reactions B11(p,γ0)C12 and B11(p,γ1)C12. The effects of proton polarization on the angular distributions were large and of opposite sign for γ0 and γ1. Coupled with the unpolarized measurements the polarized results produce additional significant limitations on the allowed configurations of the giant E1 resonances in C12.
