Abstract
Angular distributions of the 6.92- and 7.12-MeV radiation from the reaction were measured as functions of bombarding energy in order to obtain information about the reaction mechanism. Bombarding energies were at, and below, the Coulomb barrier for these low, negative- reactions. The tendency to proceed by a direct-reaction mechanism should be enhanced under these conditions. Results are compared with plane-wave calculations and are in reasonable agreement for the 6.92-MeV radiation but in strong disagreement for the 7.12-MeV radiation.
