Abstract

The 5298- and 6567-keV states in F18 have been studied by the reaction N14(α,γ)F18. Spin assignments have been made of Jπ=4+ and 5+, respectively. The energy and spin sequence of the 1702- (1+), 2524- (2+), 3358- (3+), 5298- (4+), and 6567-keV (5+) states, as well as enhanced E2 strengths of the γ transitions between these states, show that these states can be considered to be members of a predominantly four-particle, two-hole Kπ=1+ rotational band. A comparison between existing theories is given.
