Abstract

The non-local Perey-Buck optical-model potential is studied by the equivalent local potential method for low-energy s-wave neutron scattering from 16O and for the bound s-state, 16O+neutron system. A comparison is made of the local equivalent Percy-Buck potential with a local potential derived from low-energy scattering with a Hartree-Fock potential and the results are quite similar. Different forms of equivalent local potentials lead to differences in the calculated “Perey effect” near the origin and near wave-function nodes.
