Abstract

The level scheme of 177Lu has been studied in the (n, γ) reaction up to excitation energies of about 2.2 MeV. The singles γ-ray spectrum and γγ coincidences have been measured using Ge(Li) detectors, and conversion electrons have been measured up to 2.2 MeV with a β-spectrograph. Many levels above 1.2 MeV were found to be excited directly from the capture state at 7070.8 keV. The de-excitation of these levels to lower rotational bands was investigated. The positions of the Nilsson orbitals 12 [541], 72 [523] and the γ-vibrational state (K0−2) associated with the 72+ [404] state are discussed. The rotational bands of the states 72+ [404], 92 [514], 52+ [402] and 12+ [411] are discussed in terms of a rotational formula. The quantities Q0, g and (gk-gr)2/Q02 have been deduced.
