Abstract

A simple nucleon-nucleon correlation function has been invoked in the independent-particle shell-model (IPSM) wave functions of Li6. This has been assumed due to a substantial residual two-body interaction in addition to the IPSM Hamiltonian of Li6. Using the variational principle, the excitation energy of the first excited state of Li6 has been obtained in good agreement with the experimental value. The nuclear form factor for the inelastic electron scattering and the reduced transition probability have been calculated and compared with experimental data and other calculated results.
