Abstract

With four detectors in the horizontal plane, three biparametric spectra (128 × 128 channels) were measured simultaneously. Nine geometries were studied covering the majority of the Dalitz plot while one detector was fixed at θ = 90°. The results have been interpreted taking account of the two mechanisms: (i) 11B+p12C(2+) → α+8Be(0+, 2+) with 8Be → 2α, and (ii) 11B+p12C(2+) → 3α. The reaction mechanism is principally of type (i). Excellent agreement with the experimental results can be obtained by choosing s = 1, l = 1 for the p-11B channel and s = 2, l = 2 for the α-8Be channel.
