Abstract

The Pb210(p,d)Pb209 reaction has been studied at an energy of 20.6 MeV in the angular range 13-17°. The objectives of the work were twofold. First, the fragmentation of the two-particle-one-hole ν0+2νnlj1 strength up to an excitation in Pb209 of 5.3 MeV was investigated and compared with the corresponding νnlj1 strength in Pb207 as reported in a recent study of the Pb208(p,d) reaction at 20 and 22 MeV. Second, the microscopic structure of the valence neutrons ν0+2 in the ground state of Pb210 was investigated by measuring the spectroscopic factors for pickup to the six low-lying neutron single-particle states in Pb209.
