Angular momentum dependence of the optical potential in heavy-ion scattering

Abstract

An imaginary potential for elastic heavy-ion scattering is derived from the transition probability into inelastic channels. Angular momentum dependence of the imaginary potential arises from nuclear level density of the compound system and is compatible with the experimental 16O16O cross section.
