The cross sections for the production of ${}_{}{}^{11}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ and ${}_{}{}^7{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Be}$ by protons from a ${}_{}{}^{14}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{N}$ target has been measured at energies from 5-24 MeV for ${}_{}{}^{11}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ and 13-42 MeV for ${}_{}{}^7{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Be}$. A sharp rise above the thresholds for the ${}_{}{}^{14}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{N}(p,\alpha )$ and ${}_{}{}^{14}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{N}(p,2\mathrm{}\alpha )$ reactions was observed, with maxima, respectively, around 200 and 45 mb.
